Some of the landowners have told me personally that they will have law enforcement up there citing people for tresspass.  Should be interesting to see if they follow through.

Something to consider this year...
I was on a flight with one of the land owners in December and he told me the land owners wouldn't be so against such rides if they didn't have to spend a month afterwards picking up beer cans and misc. trash left behind...

Trash seems to be a problem everywhere. Is RCRC going to do another clean up there soon?

Hey Im not a club member but I would be more than happy to pitch in and help out on a clean up day at coalmine!....It is truly a shame that a bunch of IGNORANT people will go up there and ruin it for everyone.... Anyway, as of now, I will be up there on that ride and if there is going to be a clean up day Please let me know.

RCRC gets blamed for some of this trash so If the landowners block access with authorities we will offer to clean the trail.

The club typically has 1-2 rides per month and we kind of make every ride a clean-up ride.  We carry trash bags with us and take the opportunity to pick up trash each time we stop.  Although this isn't a large scale clean-up, every little bit helps.

I'm with you though... it's a shame that some people ruin it for the rest of us.  I personally don't understand how someone can just toss a can out instead of tossing the empty one right back in the cooler.  It makes me wonder what their front yard look like...

Ive heard the police thing every year. We have permission by different land owners on all sides of that mountain to ride there so Im not really worried about that. The closest thing Ive ever seen to cops around there was last year when they were pullin drunks over at Paint Rock X-ing

It never ceases to amaze me at how people have no qualms about littering.  When I hike in the Sipsey, I always have a trash bag tied to my pack for other peoples trash and I've yet to finish a hike without it being full and sometimes working on my second bag of trash.  Some people have zero respect for anything.

Count me in for a clean-up/trail run.  I'll be glad to do my part and then some.

It's nice to see there are so many people on here willing to clean the place up. I've seen pics on here before of the clean-ups on coalmine, and it has amazed me how much trash was collected. Too bad the amount of people willing to clean up are out-weighed by those that throw trash everywhere.
A couple of my buddies came up there last easter ride from down here in Auburn, and i think we're planning on doing that again this year. We'll be on sport quads if we do make it.

That would be me- Last year 2 guys came up where we were cooking , and one was about to run outta gas and was pretty far away from where he parked his tow rig. They said they were from outta town so I pulled the return line off my gas tank and cycled the fuel pump a few times and gave the guy a gallon of push-water. They were riding sport 4-wheelers . Just thought it mightve been yall.

Yeah that had to have been them. We're all from the huntsville area, moving down here for school. We all used to take our trucks up the mountain and ride on the weekends. We all still have 4x4s, but we like to take the quads out too. I've never had my 450 up there, and i know i'd have a good time.
Plus i'd like to meet some of yall up there.

I just got an invite to this from a co-worker who's family are landowners there (if I understood him right).  I told him about the trespassing issues and he said that the area will always be closed off but that it WILL BE OPEN for the Easter run.  He also said that if there are any police/sheriffs there, they will be checking for DUI's on the outbound vehicles but not concerning themselves with the inbound traffic.  He also said they are preparing for a huge turnout this year after the numbers that came last year.

He told me that once he gets the details for times/dates/permissions and what not, he will let me know and I'll pass them on here if needed but I imagine some of you are probably more in the loop than I am.

Again, we were both working on seperate projects and just passing by so we didn't have time to really go into detail but I thought that was what he said.  I very easily could have misunderstood that part and probably did.  I think I was also excited to know that the run was actually going to happen since it seemed to be up in the air so I may have selectively misunderstood him. lol

I can tell ya itll happen. It does every year. Heads up though , Its extremely crowded and there are alot of drunk idiots. Im not  against having a couple beers or whatever but theres a point when it gets outta hand when theres that many people driving around hammered off their arshe.

Yeah he was talking about that.  He said that there are a lot of people there who don't seem to "know when to say when" when they are out there.  I'm not against having the beers but I prefer to leave that to the campfire discussions at night AFTER we are done driving.
