recently replaced blower control switch, worked correctly for a while, now its stopped working altogether.  How hard is the blower motor to get at in this vehicle?  The truck is in Auburn, so I cant just go look at it.  Is this one of those tear-the-whole-dash-out jobs?

There is a resistor located behind the plastic kick panel above the passenger's feet.  It has a habit of going bad.  The switch on the dash is another problem.  The source of the problem is that over time the motor gets dust and crap built up in it which makes it work harder to spin.  This cause a higher load on the circuit components which they can't handle.  The switch plastic will melt, the wire terminals will melt, and the resistor will blow elements.

The motor comes out through the front of the firewall.  Remove the battery.   Remove the mount bolts for the PCM and move it out of the way.  Three bolts on the motor and disconnect the plug.

The switch is about 3 months old.  It would only work on one speed (I forget if it was only on high or only on low) and the switch brought back full function.  Now the damn thing has quit entirely.  The blower is like $150, and the resistor is like $50, so I guess I'll start with that.  The switch is only like $25 or $30 from the dealer.

Are you at AU now?  If so, I'll pay for your time to go over to KRE's place and troubleshoot the stupid thing.  Part of her problem is that someone broke into the Jeep and stole all her tools.  Cut the top etc.  Someone in her apartment complex witnessed it and reported it (for some inexplicable reason) to the apartment office instead of to the cops.

You could test the fan and the resistor with an ohm meter relatively quickly to find out which one is bad, before you spend the $$ for new parts.

85 Toyota pickup with 85lbs of bondo, 33" TSLs, Spool, Warn winch, 63" chevy's, Ruf, cage and other preowned parts.

Many posts on this topc on the JU forum.

If the fan runs on high, it's the resistor pack.
