Just saw this on pirate: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?p=7912555#post 7912555 thought some of you might be interested.

They are made by: http://www.cvunlimited.com/NEWFIELD/spline.htm

$100 for a chromoly birfield  That's a steal. I'll be ordering a set of these for my '83.

I'm gonna order a set of these birfields and poly performance has inner shafts for $200. That will be a complete chromoly axle set for $400+ shipping. That's considerably less than anyone else sells them.

Nick,

How do you think these will compare to Longfield chromoly birfields?  I think Cole either has just order the Longfields or is about to.  Should I call him and let him know about these?

Cole already bought the longfields. 30 spline longfields are THE best axles you can get for a toyota.

This is just a good deal for half the price of longfields. I doubt they are as good but should be WAY stronger than stock.

Don Ferguson had some newfields and I think he decided they were weaker than stock.

This was about 10 yrs ago. Way before anyone offered a chromoly version. The ones he had were junk. These are totally different axles than Don had.

Nick,

Thanks.  That is good to hear.  Coles goes through axles and birfields faster than a dose of sauce through a widow woman.

He won't break the longfields. Something else will blow up before they do.

Just ordered a set of the $100 chromo birfs from CV unlimited and a set of 27 spline 4340 inner shafts from longfield.

I honestly think these birfs will be just as strong as longfields for 1/2 the price.

$400 is half the price? And does that include shipping from two different suppliers?  Last I saw was $650 shipped for Bobby's and you can get then often on pirate for $600 shipped.

$100 for the ebay birf vs $200 for the longfield birf. Thats half price to me.

Saving $200 might not mean much to you, so please disregard this thread.

I posted this link on here because I know there are still some people on here running stock birfs that might like to save some coin, not to start a debate. Regardless if these are the strongest birfs on the market they've got to be WAY stronger than a 25 year old stock toyota birf and $100 is a good deal.

I just sold my 37's and I'm picking up some 39.5" swampers from Scott tommorrow. We'll see just how strong these are in a few weeks.

I just don't see how it's a "deal" when it only cost a $200 dollars more to have a product that is PROVEN to be waht it says it is.  Also with the warranty,  it costs $50 to warranty a shaft?  Wel your paying $100 for 2 shafts in the initial purchse, what kind of warranty is that?  Maybe I am not understanding it correctly, I sure hope so.

If you don't like these, don't buy any. Do you even own anything with birfields anyways?

These will get thoroughly tested. Then I'll tell you if they were worth the money.

We'll see if they can handle these:

I beleive this post was intended to help people working on a budget. If a couple of hundred dollars is nothing to you, I'll let you know where to send it as a donation to my buggy build. I promise to spend it on some cheap axles that haven't been tested. Otherwise if you want to argue and sound like you know something, stick to Pirate. I think they like it there. We could care less.

Here's a few pics of these. They look great for $100 birfs. I'll see if they'll hold up, but I think they will.

Chinese birfs with longfield 4340 inners:

Close up of the birf:

Comparison to a stock birf, bell is .200" longer and .100" bigger O.D., inner cage is WAY bigger :

I've been on two rides with these so far. I have thrashed them hard with the 39.5"s and they're holding up great. A stock birf wouldn't have stood a chance with the 39.5s.

You're not invited anymore.

Just kidding. Man those sticky krawlers you got work awesome on those wet rocks, they made a fool out of the rest of us. Next time I invite you I'm taking you on a muddy trail so I'll have the advantage.

Three rides, 39.5" TSL's, liberal use of the skinny pedal, and they haven't broke yet.

According to all the haters on pirate, these axles should have broke in my driveway.

I'm well pleased with these axles. I think they're gonna hold up great.

Here's the proof:

I must say that I was very impressed with what the Chinkfields held up to.

I saw it with my own eyes.  Mud, Rocks, WET rocks, the whole enchilada...........these things worked well.

I was never a nay sayer on the cheap birfs but I will admit I had some doubts....Definately a good set of spares if you have 30 splines Longs already to help you finish your wheelin day and get back home if you break.

If you cant swing the 30 splines, get a set of these and see what they handle.

Oh, and I need some damn Krawlers.
