That's complete BS! There's thousands of M1 Garands in this country already.

So you can still buy fully loaded AR-15's and a host of seriously capable civilian issue assault rifles through H&K, FN and let's not forget the bajillion SKS rifles but you can't buy a classic collector's item? You can buy a semi-auto Remington 30-06 from Wal-Mart with the same magazine capacity as a Garand. I'm really failing to see where the garand poses a threat in and of itself compared to any other firearm out there. Sounds more like a personal beef with Korea. Especially since there are still thousands upon thousands of Garands still packed in cosmoline ready for purchase already in this country.
The asinine proposals coming out of the White Crib is becoming extremely nauseating. He promised change as we all know but I thought he was planning to change matters that actually make a difference in the progress of our country. Not killing off issues and rights that affect only the population and not the TRUE problems affecting the country. But then again I'm not in politics. Here I was, thinking deficit, import/export and military might were keys to our success and standing among the super powers of the world. Anybody remember reading Kurt Vonnegut's "Harrison Bergeron"? It is frightening at how a short story published in 1961 mocking the Soviet Communist way of life is becoming a reality in this country today. |

Nevermind that CMP is THE organization to get one and they were started by the .gov...
But logic doesn't play into this... |

You can still get Garands from the CMP. This latest anti-freedom imperial dictate means you won't be able to get the Garands the ROK has declared surplus; and had previously arranged with our gubmint to return to USA for selling to John Q. Public. At best this reflects our current regime's condescencing, nanny-state "You'll shoot your eye out kid" attitude. I fear their real motive is much darker. BTW: I've toured the Garand storage and ship preperation facilities; and I've also seen where they (DLA) has cut up firearms such as Kimber quality target .22 rimfire rifles because no other govt. agency would pay their fees (admittedly probably astronomical) to clean them and continue to store them.
