My 2006 Red Rubicon was stolen tonite from Playmor Lanes in Huntsville.

4.5" RE lift, Mickey Thompson Street Locks, Pro Comp 35x12.50's.  Warn bumpers front and back. Warn 9.5ti winch up front.  Windsheild Lite Bar with 4 black KC lites on it.  2 KC'S on mirror movers.  Had the hard top on it.  F**kers stole it without breaking a window or leaving a trace of it.  Pics of my Jeep @  http://rides.webshots.com/album/558473532RwkhDSf   .  Please help me catch these bastards.

I know this community is tight, and this kind of Jeep will not go un-noticed.

Thanks guys for your help.

Anthony

Since the link isn't working:  License number?

If I see it, I won't be memorizing your e-mail, I'll be dialing 911 and video taping the beatdown.     LOL

Good luck.

I will definitely keep my eyes open for it.  So sorry to hear about that man.

Isn't this the second or third jeep to be stolen in that same general area?

MY 04 Jeep Grand Cherokee was stolen out of our driveway in Madison a little over a year ago.  The cops found it 2 days later in the Mason Court Housing Project on Holmes Avenue, parked in plain sight.  Fortunately it was fine, even still had the full tank of gas.  I'm just greatful that one of Huntsville's finest decided to run a check on the plate when he thought a jeep with an Auburn Alumni tag just didn't quite fit that neighborhood...

The detective explained to me that some of these vehicles are stolen as "crack leases".  Users steal the vehicles, then trade them to their supplier for drugs.  The supplier then drives it for a couple of weeks, dealing out of it, before torching it and moving on to the next "lease".  This way they are not tied to a specific vehicle, making it harder to get caught.  And if they do get caught, they get arrested, but bail out and haven't lost their own vehicle.

Just food for thought in case you want to look around for it...

I'll keep my eye out for someone dealing crack in tha hood out of a lifted Jeep rubicon.  Wink

They've probably already traded your 35"s for some big blingin' deuce deuce's. Or they're tring to figure out how to put dana 44's and a RE 4.5" lift under an '87 Buick regal.

Seriously, I'll keep an eye out. I hope you find your Jeep.

That should stand out in the crowd.  Whoever took that has probably either left the state with it or they had a good time wheeling it in the boonies somewhere close by.

Thanks for posting the pic.  Yeah, it isn't gonna hide among all the vehicles on the road, that's for sure.

Got swiped between 6:00 and 7:30 last night.  From Playmor Lanes parking lot.

No leads so far.  Police say they have no idea if it will be recovered.  That my best bet was to 'drive around and if I see it, to call them".  lolles  Drive around in what???

You don't think your buddy repo'ed it, do ya??  JK

I think it is probably out of state, or in a garage being parted out.  Somebody's getting tons of great stuff for their project!  Bastiges.......................

Before they were married.............yep.  But now, forget it.  That little ring changes a lot of things. LOL  She wouldn't even get out of the Jeep the other day to drag a board full of nails out of the way so Donny didn't have to drive thru the mud and get his Jeep tires dirty.  LOL

It may be worth a try to check down at Ditto Landing under the bridges. My brother in law is an HPD Tango Unit and they have recovered several stolen cars from that area as well as some being dumped in the pond in the far back. Definitely a hot spot to dump stolen vehicles. Considering the area that it was stolen from, they probably wouldn't have a clue how to part it out.

I hope the guy finds his jeep along with his light bar in tact. However, I would like for you guys to know that I would wade the deepest mud hole to get a plank with nails in it so Donny could drive on thru it. But oh how it would cost him........

Police are working a couple of things.  Can't really say.  My best bet is it is parted out and scattered throughout the Southeast by now.  Saw a TJ for sale on South Parkway yesterday at a little car lot.  It was running the same wheels as I was.  Made me do a double take.  But no such luck.

I have no doubt it is in pieces by now.

On a side note, the surveillance video from the alley shows a red WJ Grand Cherokee cruising the parking lot, and leaving right behind my Jeep.  Soon as I get a couple of screen shots of the video, I will post up. So, the thieves probly are into the Jeep scene.  Might even frequent a forum or two ...........................  Maybe somebody will recognize them or their vehicle.

Anthony, it would appear that your Jeep has met a fate worse than a chopshop and being parted out:  dirty diaper dump.

My condolences!

Nothing on the whereabouts of the Jeep.  Insurance is in the process of paying me out for it.
Depends.  My daily commute takes me from Madison to Sparkman Drive.

Could have been Mopar.  Don't recall.  But there are several models very similar on quadratec's website.  Here's one:  http://www.quadratec.com/products/12110_32_07.htm

BTW:  If you do get one, never run the lights on a deserted stretch of country road ............... ya never know where Johnny Law is lurking .  They tend to frown on such things .................

Heard on the radio this morning that 40 or so SUV's have been stolen in the Huntsville area since Thanksgiving! Authorities have reason to believe they're being shipped to Europe.

I heard the same thing.  I guess they are hard up for 4WD vehicles in Europe?  Who knows.  I have my eye on a '07 JK.  Will definetely have some form of kill switch or tracking device on my next vehicle.......

Well, the TJ is officially gone.  Insurance paid it out (coulda been more, but I came out ok).  Am now the proud owner of a '07 Steel Blue Unlimited Rubicon.  Gotta get to modding it, so I can get "the wave" again.  Nobody waves at a stock JK.  Tongue   Already have a little something installed to keep this one from running away ......................    Thanks to everyone here for the kind words during my "loss".   Gonna try to make it to the next club meet-n-greet, if I can.

Any lessons learned for us about insurance?  Did you have declared values on recent mods, etc?

Definetely make sure your insurance covers all mods done to your rig.  Don't assume something is covered, just becuase it is on or in your vehicle.  Apparently things like tools and GPS's are not covered (Or at least not with my insurance company).  They claimed they were covered under my home owner's policy............... How that works I have no idea. But that is how they filed them.   If you aren't sure, call up your agent and make sure.
Never take their first offer. They will low-ball you every time.  Keep receipts, stick to what you think the value of your rig was, and they "should" work everything out.

That's the sort of feedback I was wondering about.  We found that not all companies would allow mods to be insured.  We keep coming back to geico because they allow me to itemize with dollar values for each thing I've added, supposedly a claim would just require receipts.  It only costs something like $40 more per year.

I had Metropolitan Life / Auto Insurance.  Overall they treated me fairly well.  Could they have given me more $?  Sure.  Their service was fairly quick.  They were kinda slow at returning phone calls, but once I had them on the line things went well.
Everyone I have talked to said it normally takes 30 days before any insurance company even starts giving an offer on a stolen vehicle.  To allow time for it to possibly be recovered.  Met made me an offer between 2 and 3 weeks time.  Which I then proceeded to decline and go back and forth with them for another week or so.
I have since switched to Progressive, because of a better package of home / multi auto insurance, and they also will let you list mods and $ value.

Here's to hoping you never have to find out the hard way what your insurance covers, or doesn't Wacko.  DEFINETLY have some kind of gap or agreed value insurance, if you have any kind of $'s into mods.   Or an older vehicle that has no retail value according to places like KBB.
