The course was made up of two parallel tracks, one track for each vehicle.  Over the day, every vehicle ran each track and in both directions.  So each rig had 4 runs. They run two vehicles at once, but they ran against the clock, not each other. The whole course was laid out between two ridges that were about 50 yards apart at the bottom.  The course wound around and up and down, but generally stayed between the ridges.  Most of the spectators sat at the top of the two ridges and you could see just about the whole thing from most spots.
