Trying to get the windshield frame off a '73 CJ5...   Removed the hinge screws in the frame that would come out and drilled out the rest.  It seems to be welded on..  What am I missing?

Paint perhaps?
I doubt any of it is welded.
Rust can be a biiiiiig issue with CJ hinges.
Could you take a picture or two and post up?
That would probably help.

Thanks for the info...  I won't hesitate to use a 3 pound "persuader" and perhaps a chisel now...  I'll take the camera to the shop and snap a few...

Got a plastic covered dead blow hammer?
That might do the trick with a little less damage.  Wink

Pics would be good.

the hinges on my tj had some kind of industrial strength sticker/gasket crap that was pretty tenacious.
06 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited all torn apart.

The older  hinges were installed prior to painting, metal on metal.  I would assume rust is the issue and or lots of layers of paint

Edit: or someone welded it on because it vibrated to much for their liking, seen it before

Those long tangs on the hinge that run up the side of the frame were the problem..  There were two more bolts on each side!  Saw them when I looked at some new hinges.  Pulled the bolts, sprayed on a little penetrant, and encouraged the frame to move with a cole chisel and a 2 pound ball peen hammer... After I drove the chisel a few inches up the hinge tang on each side... The frame came right off!  Smile
