From Jamie McIntyre's "Daily on Defense":

INDUSTRY WATCH: It’s not your father’s HUMVEE. It’s the new ISV, or Infantry Squad Vehicle, that GM Defense, a subsidiary of General Motors, has delivered to the U.S. Army as part of a $214.3 million contract awarded in June.

The all-terrain troop carrier is designed to transport a nine-soldier infantry squad and their equipment and is based on GM’s Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 midsize truck, using 90% commercial, off-the-shelf parts.

“The expeditionary ISV is light enough to be sling loaded from a UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter and compact enough to fit inside a CH-47 Chinook helicopter for air transportability,” says the company in a news release. “The COTS parts, combined with the ISV’s innovative Rollover Protection System, will provide agile transportability on the battlefield to support mission success.”

You can see what it looks like here.

It doesn't give any protection. It's meant to get dismounted infantry to the fight faster, since they can't keep up with the rest of us by walking. LOL! Light infantry is getting to where they have more vehicles than Armored or Stryker formations.

Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the world. But the U.S. ARMED FORCES don't have that problem. -Reagan
