I bought a haas TL2 CNC lathe for our shop. In addition to doing 4x4 work we do a lot of prototypes and small runs. I ended up buying a brand new one to get the newer features and controller. This machine is able to do things like pick up a thread already existing on a shaft and chase the thread to repair a damaged section. It will also cut threads from scratch. This will be good for making suspension links, tie rods, drag links, etc.
We had some riggers come unload it off the truck and set it in place with their 15K forklift. All setup in the shop. Making my first test cuts and dialing in my tool offsets. |

That's a nice machine. What software will you use to program it?

Nice. I have been watching a guy on youtube (AVE) do shakedown videos on a Haas CNC. Looks like allot of fun.

I can't say for sure, but I believe the Haas machines use their own proprietary software.

We use fusion 360 to program with for complicated parts. We manually program simpler parts by hand at the machine using g code. The new lathe has a conversational portion of the control that allows you to put in values and it generates the g code for whatever you have selected. It's supposed to make it really quick to do one off parts.
