Well, honestly what's wrong with looking like Cuba, people actually have the freedom there to drive whatever they want. It's like a friend we have who went to the Dominican Republic as a missionary. He never knew how few freedoms we had until he went there. People have the freedom to be idiots/unsafe.

I think the law is a nice START. They waived safety testing, but still have to meet emissions. That is the big killer in my opinion. You have to have all the power robbing, maintenance nightmare equipment on the replica that is supposed to not have it.

If I were to build my Scrambler from scratch the way it is now, I wouldn't pass muster of that law (but I can do it using he original vehicle as is).

I thought it required compliance with emissions requirements in place at the time of the original vehicle, is that incorrect?

I was only kidding with the Cuba comment.  Well, sort of.
All of the pics and video I've seen coming out of Cuba are just full of old cars straight out of the '50's.
Kinda neat but the underlying reason as to why that is the case is still troubling.

I sure hope Alabama will stay out of the emissions testing game.

Doc, my reading is that it meets current emissions standards. Article even states only one company makes a V8 that would work. Can't remember if it was Ford or Chevy. It implied that was the only current motor to work.
