I think it was Napolean who said something like "never interfere with your enemy when he is busy defeating himself." The enviro wackos are headed there, for sure. We should spur them on to victory over themselves, for example by encouraging PETA to challenge this book's notion of "pets".

A german shepherd consumes more resources than two toyota SUV's? Really? Last time I checked, my dog didn't get 16 miles to the gallon and produce carbon monoxide. Methane yes... CO no. Where and how do these brilliant minds come up with these statistics? And I'm scared to even imagine what tests were performed to reach these conclusions.
And here I am questioning a post on a website who's slogan is "News for Nerds. Stuff That Matters."

What these idiots are probably doing is taking into account the total picture of that german shepherd. For example, the food it consumes is produced in a factory which consumes raw materials and energy to produce the food. The raw materials are produced somewhere and that requires additional raw materials and energy. Everything requires transportation to get the raw materials to the factory, to wholesalers, retailers, and finally to your home.
Damn, now that I think about it, we need to just kill all those german shepherds and have a feast. But then that would require charcoal, lighter fluid, grill, sauce, ... The death of the family dog would no doubt lead to at least one family member crying which would require the use of Kleenex and we all know where this will lead -- That's right, loggers cutting down trees to produce paper products.
